Are you no longer going on every single ride offered, playing tennis, taking a swim and going for a hike - filling your day at the ranch with every possible activity?
Perhaps you'd like to slow your vacation down a bit and add some new learning experiences. Take a look at our Road Scholar Programs for this year!

The basic packages are slightly different from a typical ranch package, in that they do not include airport transfers or multiple horseback rides daily. Riding is still available, a la carte as you wish, and airport transfers may be provided for a fee.

Jan. 15 - Jan. 20, 2012 Learn Texas Hold 'Em

Pick up the basics of the Wild West's hottest game with an experienced instructor and venture into the more advanced aspects of the game. Our instructors are former Guest Ranch operators who are guaranteed to make you feel comfortable and competent. 


Jan. 29 - Feb. 3, 2012 Competitive Bridge

Competitive bridge players looking for an edge achieve the the next level in bidding and play with a Grand Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League. We are very please dto announce that Dennis Dawson will be instructing this program.

Feb. 12 - Feb. 17, 2012  Ultimate Old West - The Ranch Experience

If you have a deep fondness for horses and being around animals, this is the perfect match for You. There are trail rides, a Natural Horsemanship demonstration, horse lectures, roping lessons and a trip to Old Tucson Studios, just for starters. This will be a very fun and education program.

Mar.3 - Mar.8, 2012  The Living Desert and Night Skies

Learn about the natural environment of the Sonoran Desert with an investigation of the Arizona night sky, and the plants and wildlife that are uniquely adapted to thrive in this desert climate. Birding, a study of bees, astrnomy and in-depth nature walks are included in this program.

Cactus Cowgirls Ride Again!
Special One Week Program
January 22 - 29, 2012
Sunday to Sunday




Bask in the warm Arizona sun, makes lots of new friends and learn new skills.  You may have your own horse for the week to bathe, groom and saddle - or leave the horse care to the professionals and just show up for your rides. You will receive instruction on horse safety and methods to improve communication with your horse. There will be trail rides, team penning and daily lessons. Your stay includes a hayride, cookout, country western dance lessons, hiking and special stretching classes which focus on the needs of equestrians, and a mounted Quadrille presentation as part of the ranch rodeo on Saturday.
Your stay also includes: a Margarita Welcome Party, A one hour massage, all Cowgirl Activities and airport transfers from Tucson International Airport.

Equine Facilitated
Learning and Coaching 
Facilitator Training Program
February 5 - 12, 2012

International teacher and author of "Hope from the Heart of Horses," Kathy Pike presents the Equine Facilitated Learning and Coaching (EFLC) teacher training program. This program melds horse wisdom with the human experience to expand potential and consciousness. The horse becomes the teacher for the human.
The first two days are workshop format, followed by four days of "train the trainer." All work is done on the ground. This is the first step toward an EFLC Apprenticeship Certification with Kathy.

The EFLC Level One training Program is designed for individuals who wish to:

 Incorporate EFLC sessions into their existing client base
Become a Certified EFLC Apprentice
Learn facilitation skills to support business partners who are certified in the field
Experience a more integrated methodology in their coaching approach, horse instruction or lessons
Explore the field of EFLC 

During the Level One training program you will learn:

Processes for for emotional agility and intelligence through deeper levels of self-awareness
How to facilitate equine based learning sessions
Mind Body Method Coaching processes
Horse care, body language of horses and selection

Check-in Sunday, we'll meet at 5 pm. Program ends Saturday at 5 pm, but your lodging includes Saturday night, so check out Sunday morning after breakfast.

Tuition and Lodging: $3,170 per person, double occupancy

Sometimes we lose track of ourselves in midlife. We’re ready for something new, but don’t exactly know what. Or we’re on a new and adventurous path but would like some company. Or there’s an unexpected challenge in front of us. During this retreat, in the spirit of abundance and gratitude, you will connect with horses to clarify your own unique direction. For some it may be outward, for some inward. For many it will be both.

Horses, by their very nature, touch our spirits with their beauty, freedom, courage, power and heart.They summon within us recognition of our passionate, magnificent selves. They invite us into the dance of life through a glance, a touch, a breath, or a moment of mirroring back to us something we weren’t previously aware of.In addition to lots of horse time, you will see through the soft eyes of a horse with your own Spirit Horse Mask that you will make, decorate and bring home with you as a keepsake.

Mornings will find us out in the cradle of the mountains doing creative and soulful work with the horses. Afternoons are meant for fun. You can ride, rest, explore Tucson, get a massage, or do a creative project. Evenings will offer a mix of workshop activities and free time.

The cost includes: all workshop activities, five nights lodging (double occupancy), three meals a day, optional daily horseback riding, and ranch entertainment.
